How to become a UCSF Police employee
(non-sworn, non-dispatcher)

  1. Review the job standards of the position for which you are applying on the UCSF Human Resources website or in the job posting.
  2. Apply to the job posting in UCSF Brass Ring with a cover letter and resume.
  3. Submit a completed UCSF Police Department Employment Application.
  4. Qualified applicants will be scheduled for an oral board interview conducted by at least two members of the UCSF Police staff. Some recruitment processes may involve an additional round of interviews.
  5. Selected candidate(s) will be fingerprinted and asked to sign a waiver authorizing a background investigation.
  6. Candidates passing the background investigation will be sent a conditional offer of employment, to be signed and returned to the Professional Standards Division (PSD).
  7. Upon receipt of a signed conditional offer of employment by the PSD, the candidate is hired.

Additional candidate information

  • Candidates who have not passed at any point in the recruitment process will be notified in writing and may reapply after six months.
